Vindya Wijegunawardana
Deputy Chairman
Mrs. Vindya Wijegunawardana is a seasoned and results-driven leader with over 25 years of progressive experience spanning contact center operations and strategic human resource management across the airline & telecommunications industries. Known for her people-focused leadership style, she has built a strong reputation for optimizing service delivery, developing high-performing teams, and aligning human capital strategies with organizational objectives.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Vindya has consistently demonstrated the ability to drive operational excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and empower employees across complex organizational structures. Her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening employee engagement, improving productivity, and supporting sustainable business growth through effective cross-functional collaboration.

Mrs. Vindya’s professional journey includes extensive experience in customer service and contact center operations, where she successfully led multi-functional teams across customer service, technical support, and back-office operations while achieving high service-level KPIs and customer satisfaction standards. She later transitioned into senior human resource leadership roles, where she played a pivotal role in HR operations, employee relations, talent development, policy formulation, performance management, and compliance.

Mrs. Vindya holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the University of Colombo, along with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Kelaniya. She is a Chartered Human Resource Management professional certified by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka, accredited by CIPD UK, and is an Associate Member of CIPM Sri Lanka and the Human Resource Professionals Association of Sri Lanka. She is also an alumna of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo, a premier national girls’ school in Sri Lanka.

In her role as Deputy Chairman, Mrs. Vindy brings a wealth of leadership experience, strategic insight, and a strong commitment to people-centric governance, ethical management practices, and long-term organizational excellence.
Luhith Premaratne
Executive Director
Mr. Luhith Premaratne is a Director of Slim Pharmaceuticals, where he plays a key role in strategic development, business growth, and commercial operations. He holds a Bachelor of Business with a major in Marketing from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, having first completed the Monash University Foundation Year. He completed his schooling at Ananda College, Colombo.

His work at Slim Pharmaceuticals includes driving business development, managing international partnerships, overseeing tender and private-market operations, and expanding the company’s product portfolio. He focuses on identifying growth opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with international principals and healthcare partners.

He has a particular interest in diversifying the company’s offerings beyond traditional pharmaceuticals into broader healthcare areas, including consumer health, medical devices, dermocosmetics, nutraceuticals, and other complementary sectors. His goal is to build a more diversified and resilient healthcare business.

As part of the next generation of leadership at Slim Pharmaceuticals, he collaborates closely with the senior management team to enhance the company’s market position, develop new business verticals, and support the long-term vision for sustainable growth and expansion.
Gayan Edirisinghe
Managing Director
Mr. Gayan, the Managing Director of Slim Pharmaceuticals is a highly experienced professional with a wealth of industry experience exceeding 20 years. Throughout an illustrious career, he has demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills and industry expertise, with a track record featuring many pivotal roles before joining Slim Pharmaceuticals.

His professional journey began as a promising Medical Representative at Hemas Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd, while subsequently serving as a Medical Promotional Coordinator at Ceylinco Pharmaceuticals and Sales Manager at Ceyline Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd. Mr. Gayan has an excellent academic history with a Master's in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Bedfordshire, UK. His academic achievements also include an Internal Diploma in Marketing Management from the renowned University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His strong academic background, combined with his wealth of practical experience, has proven to be the driving force behind his success in Sales and Marketing in the pharmaceutical industry.

Mr. Gayan Edirisinghe's exceptional sales and marketing knowledge and excellent strategic thinking have proven to be invaluable to Slim Pharmaceuticals, steering the firm toward growth and success in the highly competitive pharmaceutical market. His natural leadership qualities also continue to guide the organization toward greater heights, ensuring sustained industrial growth and prominence.
Shamal Fernando
Managing Director
Mr. Shamal has cultivated a promising career with extensive experience and expertise in management, marketing, and sales, spanning over 12 years and a multitude of industries, including Pharmaceutical, Insurance, and FMCG. He has proven to be an integral member of the Slim Family, greatly contributing to the company's achievements.

Before embarking on the exciting voyage with Slim Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Shamal's career includes both local and overseas roles, including serving as a Business Consultant at J. L. Morrison's PLC. Additionally, he was a Business Manager at Bayer, Takeda HealthCare Pharmaceuticals LLC, and Phramaworld LLC in Dubai, UAE. He has also held the position of Product Manager and Senior Product Specialist in Nephrology and Oncology at Roche Pharmaceuticals Colombo Limited, and Marketing Executive at A. Baur’s & Co (Pvt) Ltd and Schering-Plough (MSD).

Mr. Shamal Fernando also boasts of an impressive academic history, with a Master's in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and a Bachelor's in Psychology and Philosophy alongside a CMA Certification from Australia. His diverse background and comprehensive skillset make him an invaluable asset to Slim Pharmaceuticals, driving innovation and sustainable growth as a Managing Director.
Riza Cassim
Chief Executive Officer (Slim Healthcare)
A highly self-motivated veteran marketer with over 29 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, Mr. Riza Cassim plays a key role in the Slim Healthcare think tank. His vast experience extends beyond a wide array of therapeutic segments, including cardiovascular, gastroenterology, and endocrinology, providing the firm with invaluable insights.

Upon starting his career at Sanofi (formerly Hoechst), Mr. Cassim subsequently joined Pfizer as a Brand Manager. Fuelled through commitment, excellence, and growth, his career trajectory advanced significantly with him taking on the role of Head of Operations for Mylan USA and Micro Labs India.

Later, as the Country Head for AstraZeneca, Mr. Cassim was recognized twice as a Hemas CEO Award Winner for Outstanding Performance, two Country of the Year Frontier Market Awards for Exceptional Performance in India and Vietnam, and the Best Branding in Frontier Market, awarded in Vietnam. His leadership also guided two super brands to the pinnacle of the IMS Rankings in Q1 2020 MAT, dominating cardiovascular and PPI segments. Mr. Cassim's decorated career and proven track record have made him a highly renowned and respected figure within the pharmaceutical sphere. His presence within the leadership ranks of Slim Healthcare continues to inspire and motivate the entire team.
Christopher Fernando
Director – Institutional & Tender Business
Mr. Christopher Gordon Fernando began his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 2002 as a Trainee Medical Representative at George Steuart Agencies, currently known as George Steuart Health (Pvt) Ltd. During his tenure, he gained valuable experience in pharmaceutical sales and marketing, contributing to the organization until 2006.

In 2006, Mr. Fernando joined Lifeline Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd, shortly after the company commenced operations. As one of its initial team members, he played a key role in establishing and promoting a newly launched agency representing a pharmaceutical partner from Indonesia. Through his dedication, commitment, and business development capabilities, he contributed significantly to the company's growth.

In 2009, he was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Tender Department at Lifeline Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd. Under his leadership, he played an important role in developing and sustaining the company's tender business, building strong institutional relationships and establishing effective processes for tender management.

In 2017, Mr. Fernando joined Falcon Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd as Director – Marketing, while continuing to serve Lifeline Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd as a Consultant for its Tender Business. His dual responsibilities enabled him to further strengthen his expertise in pharmaceutical marketing, institutional business, and tender operations.

In 2020, Mr. Fernando commenced a consultancy engagement with Softlogic Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd, where he was responsible for overseeing the Tender, Institutional, Respiratory, and Critical Care business segments. His extensive industry experience and strategic approach contributed to the development and management of these key business areas.

In June 2025, Mr. Fernando joined Slim Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd as Director – Institutional & Tender Business, taking responsibility for the company's institutional and tender operations.

With more than two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Fernando brings extensive expertise in tender management and institutional business development.

His vision is to streamline and strengthen the institutional and tender business by establishing efficient, sustainable, and growth-oriented processes, enabling the business to operate smoothly while achieving consistent and long-term growth.
Nelum Ambawela
Senior Manager - Human Resources
Ms. Nelum Ambewela brings invaluable HR expertise, harnessed over an illustrious career spanning over 14 years. Since assuming her position as the Human Resources Manager at Slim Pharmaceuticals in 2022, she has brilliantly managed and developed the company's HR functions, ensuring smooth operations. She has provided extraordinary leadership to the HR Team in strategic planning and the optimal utilization and development of human resources.

Ms. Ambewela has a strong academic record with an MLRHRM and BSc in Natural Science from the University of Colombo and a PQHRM Qualification from CIPM. She is also a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 90001:2015, a Certified HR Auditor, and holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Ms. Ambewela is pursuing an LLB (Hons) Degree, showcasing her commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
